Jewel Amethyst Daniel, a scientist, an author who writes under the name Jewel Amethyst, and an educator, enjoys combining her love of science and writing to teach kids about exciting science concepts.  Her first full-length novel, A Marriage of Convenience was released August 2009 and her holiday romance story, From SKB with Love is part of an anthology of romance stories Holiday Brides was released in October 2009. In 2013 Jewel was recruited as one of the launch authors for Amazon Kindle worlds, publishing her novella, Indiscretion as part of the YA suspense Pretty Little Liars Kindle Worlds fantasy fiction. Jewel’s new romance novel, Hurricane of the Heart will be released in summer 2015.

In 2014 Jewel themed up with her 11 year old daughter to publish the first in a series of children’s science adventure novels, Zapped! Danger in the Cell. Jewel has managed to combine her three loves: science, writing, and teaching into a fun and educational book with a science theme, that aligns well with elementary and middle school science curricula.  With a PhD in Biology from University of Virginia, Jewel has taught at middle and high school level and is now faculty at a Maryland college.

Lynelle A. Martin, a sixth grader in Baltimore County, has an avid interest in science and adventure. Inspired by her mother’s writing, Lynelle began penning her first novel at the age of 8 and enjoyed seeing her labor of love come to fruition when her debut novel, Zapped! Danger in the Cell. Lynelle enjoys soccer, playing the clarinet, and partaking in gymnastics; but even more fun, she loves letting her imagination run wild while writing her stories.
