Jenny Smith is the author of "Seriously, God?"

Our house was going into foreclosure, we were moving into a rental house, and God didn’t seem to care. My family needed me. It could be worse. As I walked down those house steps I didn’t know it was about to get much worse.

I struggled with how God had let me down, where was he? Why didn’t he provide a job where we could maintain our standard of living? My whole Christian life had been built on this understanding of God being our provider, the one who when we had a need we went to and he provided. What happened? We were doing everything we knew to do and it wasn't working.

The journey God took me on, showed me how knowing the seven I Am statements of Jesus from the Book of John, would transform my heart from feeling abandoned to a heart that stays steady even as life shakes all around me.
