Racism in America was established from the beginning of slavery as an instution for determining the superiority of one race over another in order to control the slaves and indigent servants of the slave masters here, in America. It was set up to initiate a system of control over the black slaves and those in servitude to the white slave owners in America. It is a social and political policy based upon the notion that the black slaves from Africa were not totally human beings but,, three-fifths of a human. The behavior and mental conception were lower than that of the white man or their slave masters and they were considered less than human and equal to their animal stock. This concept was forced on the slaves through cruel and inhuman treatments by their slave masters until they were broken into submission that they were not equal to the white race and did not deserve the same rights and treatments as they were given. This idea has subconsciously been passed down from generation to generation and is still accepted and enacted on the African Americans and minority races today, resulting in the cruel, and inhuman treatment of these people, as demonstrated in the actions of those in authority over the people, and is seen in the behavior of the policemen in the killing of innocent black men in cities and communities throughout America.
