While at University of Pittsburgh, Latia Howard was a great athlete until basketball was taken away by health problems. These health issues happened at an early age and caused her to refocus and take a different pathway in life. On her hospital bed, after a major stroke, she realized basketball could no longer be her hopes and dreams so she had to figure out what she wanted to do in life. Even though she had attended University of Pittsburgh and education was not her focus, she decided she wanted to become an educator. Latia wanted to teach and educate children on the importance of education. Determined to make a difference in the lives of young folks, Latia decided to tell her story.

Latia knows that her story can become a testimony to those who have or are struggling with health issues, to athletes of any level and people who feel like there is no way out. She knows her struggles and faith have made her a stronger person. She lost her gift to play basketball on a professional level, but didn’t lose her ability to live life.
