Truth: it's tough to objectively write about someone who is a wonderful Friend first. But YOU need to know about Christian de Mesones as the seasoned professional. And MUCH buzzed artist.

The beginning: Christian graduated from the prestigious Musician's Institute when he was 18. Study & workshops with Abe Laboriel, Steve Morse, Pat Metheny and more. And he had a unique relationship with the great Pat Martino - who asked Christian to write an original song at graduation.

Building on that bass education, our guest flew from the nest and evolved his career from Hawaii to his home state - playing in multiple bands and multiple genres. By the mid-80's, he was a staple in the Brooklyn scene with his heavy metal group, Twice Shy. Christian shared the stage with LEGENDS who shared his love for metal.

Moving to Richmond, Virginia, in 1995, he found work with Hip Hop artists and performed with local R & B, Latin & Contemporary Jazz acts. With Big Patt & Legion, he opened for Chuck Brown & Roberta Flack - drawing the largest outdoor crowd in the city's history.

Northern Virginia in 2000: Mars Music opened more doors for my buddy and he became a contract player for Churches as well as a noted teacher and mentor in the region. He is PASSIONATE about both. In 2006, Christian's "Groove Skool" was invited to play at the famous Capital Jazz Fest in Columbia, Maryland. The sole album by GS, "Limited Edition", was touted internationally.

By 2015, he was independently releasing singles - several of which have charted extremely well. Those have culminated in the widely received "They Call Me Big New York." JAZZIZ Magazine has been paying attention - you'll hear about it. Sold-out club dates, a great reputation in the DMV and beyond, and plans on the horizon for expanding his genre-bending vision. Christian de Mesones is on the RISE!
