Jeff Oster has been described as "Miles Davis meets Pink Floyd." We'll give you a minute to ponder that. LOL! The story goes that Jeff was encouraged to pursue trumpet by the band director at Coral Gables High School in Florida. Then, in 1978, he heard Chuck Mangione's "Feels So Good" - and Jeff ordered a Yamaha flugelhorn. Our guest is a master of BOTH!

For many years, Jeff performed with a variety of bands and styles. When he focused his attention in the direction of a more atmospheric sound, he met with incredible success. This is important to ponder - because Jeff's a rare individual with both sides of his brain working at full capacity. Besides being hauntingly artistic, he has also enjoyed success in a financial services career. So, it's a WOW to consider that he's a four-time "Zone Music Reporter" winner. And "Independent Music Awards" recipient. For Best New Album ("Reach") - and Best New Age Song" "Five Great Mountains" from that album.

We will hear about the beautifully unusual process regarding the creation of "Reach." Jeff's especially intutive partner here was Ruslan Sirota - who cannot be praised enough for what he envisioned. And how grateful Jeff is that he "got" so much of who Jeff IS. What you'll hear from these collaborators is a musical travelogue - Native America, India, China - a feel for Paris - this is a gorgeous panoramic view of the world. Without ever leaving your house :)

Jeff has been recording for years - and each of his projects are mostly titled with one word: to reflect what he was experiencing at the time. THAT'S worthy of discussion, as well as his time with the group "Flow" - featuring Windham Hill founder Will Ackerman. There is, truthfully, so MUCH to cover!

We'll speak with Jeff (in Mexico!) on 5/14. Join us in The Chat Room.
