It has been a long time. The LAST time "Hybrid Jazz" was heard: one year ago - with the extraordinary Shambhu. Now, the ability to continue  has arrived. And what a guest for the re-launch: ROMAIN COLLIN.

Our friend visits us with amazing news. He is a co-lead with the virtuoso, Gregoire Maret, on a stunning project called "Americana." Featuring the legendary Bill Frisell!  Blissful piano from Roman, harmonica from Gregoire, and guitar from Baltimore born Bill. An amazing vision of Jazz. An astounding glimpse into what has been, musically, and what will be - via instrumentation.

Romain was born in France, and he absorbed varied musical influences through the years. He arrived in the USA via a scholarship to Berklee - where he studied Music Synthesis. While there, he studied performance with Dave Liebman & Joe Lovano. In 2007, he graduated from the Monk Institute. And he was TRULY recognized there as the "visionary" that NPR called him later in his career. Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Charlie Haden, Wynton Marsalis - they all knew.

In 2009: Romain's debut. The global buzz was significant enough that the late Marian McPartland invited him on her prestigious radio show. 2012: "The Calling" - that's when Romain first joined us. Kendrick Scott & Luques Curtis formed the trio that our brilliant artist had come to love. "Press Enter" followed in 2015. The same vital personnel accompanied Romain.

In 2019, the revelatory "Tiny Lights" splashed onto the Jazz scene like a beautiful blue wave onto the shore. And blue is appropriate. Romain sees colors in music. And those hues of self-discovery continue with the stellar "Americana." We will learn of the path that led him HERE. And you will find yourself HEALED by the music that you hear. That's a promise.
