It has been a pleasure to have known about the amazing Todd Marcus for many years.  In the wide Jazz circles that cross highways through the "DMV", HUNDREDS of people know that name.  Born in Northern New Jersey, Todd came to Baltimore to study political science at Loyola University.  It was in Charm City that his musical talent reached sweet fruition - and he also awakened to a strong and lasting social consciousness.

This award-winning bass clarinetist, composer, arranger and activist has been recognized by a wide array of people of note and publications that have praised him.  In actuality, when you hear Todd's work, you cannot say ENOUGH about his unique expertise.  He is self-taught in Jazz theory and composition.  His music is a heavenly hybrid of straight Jazz, Classical and - in recent years - reflective of his Egyptian-American roots.  Our guest has worked with a plethora of artists who also have Baltimore ties, as well as Tim Warfield, Sean Jones, Orrin Evans.  It must be said that there are seasoned pros who know and respect Todd, young as he is, as if he was an elder in the business.

Why there is this extra measure of reverence for him: his heart.  When Todd was attending Loyola, he became involved with Habitat for Humanity.  He came to know the hardships of dozens in the poverty-stricken communites that he served.  These days, he runs "Intersection of Change" to help those who are often overlooked.  Children, women looking for recovery from drug addiction, community revitalization, urban farming - Todd has worked HARD to make a difference.  For many years.

Music is his bridge to reach all kinds of people - and this new work, "On These Streets (A Baltimore Story)", brings that home in a most urgently needed way.  Join us on 7/17/18 at 2 p.m.  Showtime at one.  You'll truly be impressed!
