In stories heard through the years, I have been aware that women knew that they were pregnant because they smelled flowers where none bloomed.  Also, there have been many who swore that rooms were filled with floral aromas where loved ones used to live.  Now gone, in their place: flowers.  Maybe Jimmy Greene knows this or not - but his new album is appropriately named. It's the follow-up to "Beautiful Life" - a tribute to his daughter, Ana.  You have seen her precious face in the years since Sandy Hook took away America's breath.  Imagine how Jimmy Greene's breath was taken.  Here is a public figure: a saxophonist whose music and style has won praise for the length of his career.  An educator whose students have climbed to dizzying heights with their OWN success stories.  An award-winning Professor, clinician and composer whose faith-based life with his wife and children was the envy of many.  Then, December of 2014 happened.

We will not dwell on this when Jimmy visits on May 4th.  Yours truly is mindful of a great man's path.  And completely sensitive to what he wants to say and how he wants to say it.  This musical "sequel", if you will, is tremendously important to him.  Because he views what we hear the way he believes that Ana wishes him to say it.  Both sides of his lovely brain working, Jimmy is both intelligent in concept and emotional in feel.  Every musician on this project had a part to play - and they followed him in the same love that he gave them.  Renee Rosnes, Jean Baylor, Ben Williams, Otis Brown III...it would be downright cliche to say that this is a Labor of LOVE.

Jimmy is visiting The Hamilton in D.C. on 5/5.  Before he does, he'll visit with US.  A feast for your ears awaits.  Let's make sure that he knows it.
