This is the second visit from Oscar - and yours truly couldn't be more thrilled!  His fourth album, called "Music of Departures and Returns", has done unbelievably well.  With his passionate yet velvet mix of his Spanish roots, Classical training and love of Jazz, it would be embraced already.  But add to the mix, Esperanza Spalding and Paquito D'Rivera, as well as Oscar's stellar ensemble of trusted friends, and you have something extraordinary.

Those of us who are fans are so grateful for Oscar's journey from Barcelona to Boston to New York.  He graduated cum laude from Berklee and returned to his homeland in 2000 in order to soak up the fertile music of his youth.  He returned to the States in order to pursue his Masters at the New England Conservatory.  By this time, the second project was under his belt.  His third arrived in 2011.  Oscar was finding that composing was important to him, that his role as educator was taking on a new life, and that he felt very keenly about songs and songwriters.  But not at the expense of getting stressed about perfectionism regarding his own work.  He wanted ideas emerging from his music to flow.  To breathe.  Which is exactly what his most recent album DOES.

Oscar is coming to Baltimore, D.C., and Connecticut - with stops in Cuba.  You need to know because he's the kind of artist who needs to be seen.  The sublime artistry that you have heard on record is what you will hear LIVE :)  Oscar doesn't do bells and whistles in the studio - it's PLAYING that is his mission.  Even more authentic when we realize that this beautiful man likes to give back to the community that embraced him - byt reaching out to underserved children and teaching them the glory of music.
