Seriously, it's difficult to find a place to begin - in trying to convey the utter surge of joy - upon hearing "Repertoire."  It's a co-production: James Day, the most esteemed Soul-oriented songwriter - and U-Nam, the electrifying guitarist who is championing a new record label, Skytown.  These are High Times for U and James - and that's meant in the most organic way.  They're on FIRE with this music and the things to come BECAUSE of "Repertoire."

That's what this new work is called and it doesn't escape this radio host that the title is French, just like our friend, U :)  Hah! But it's way more in the way of explanation.  The word, repertoire, has a definition that we'll use here: a stock of skills that one habitually uses.  TOTALLY James Day!  This seasoned veteran has honed some MAJOR skills - his lyrical content is something that is both poetry and street, ballet and hip hop, filet mignon and grits.  His words are beautiful and real and current but timeless.  When he partners with those who graced this album, the emotions are palpable!  Extraordinary music with a James Day lyric - and talent like Maysa, Walter Beasley and the late and truly great Gavin Christopher?  Then throw in U-Nam?  By now, you're salivating, right?  That's because you love honest music!

Some important background on James.  He moved to New York to study musical theater some years back - and he was doing SO well!  But he was diagnosed with Meniere's Disease, which results in vertigo, tinnitus, and hearing loss.  To say the journey back to health was challenge-free would be a lie.  But he triumphed!  And James turned his attention to the studio that he had built at home while in recovery.  A silver lining.  James has MANY stories about those!

See you on 5/3!  2 p.m!
