Here's the thing about Emmanuel Abiteboul aka U-Nam --- and Shannon Kennedy: I could research both of them out the WAZOO and it wouldn't convey how exciting it is to have them on the show. What's wonderful is how their combined music makes us FEEL. What we want to get up and DO when we hear them. Or lay DOWN and do ;) LOL!!!!! Yeah - it's like that with Groove Ltd. The name of the unit to depict the vibe of this ultra cool husband and wife musical juggernaut.
U-Nam, as you probably know, was born in Paris. Guitar at 12, education at the first European school for Jazz, a professional at 19. Studio sessions, wizardry as a producer, he blessed us with his arrival on American soil in 2007. He has performed with a Who's Who of stellar artistry - one of those talents includes George Benson - who has publicly stated that U is the next-best-thing to croissants and cafe au lait. Something like that ;) So MANY of us felt the buzz years ago when U-Nam took his version of "Street Life" sailing up the charts. He has achieved #1 status, he has enjoyed Gold and Multiple Platinum records in his collaborative efforts - and then he met Shannon :-D
Here's a young woman who will take your breath away. Beautiful inside and out, this saxophonist, composer, producer, and overseer of a magnificent site (www.teenjazz.com) is the absolute match for U-Nam's virtuosity. She has performed on national TV and has been highly visible via recordings (Peter White) and on tour (10,000 Maniacs). Her work with U has been unbelievably compelling - and still she has found the time to forge a path via singing. She is considered a triple threat in the business. One listen to her nuanced playing on "First Class" and you'll know why.
Join us in the show's first hour on 10/1 - we're psyched!
