One of the pivotal days in Alicia Olatuja's life happened just last year.  She had a memorable moment, singing at one of the BIG Inauguration events for the re-elected Barack Obama.  So stunning was her classically trained mezzo soprano voice that the buzz began IMMEDIATELY.  No less than Elizabeth Hasselbeck (formerly of "The View") praised her on the show as if she had never heard anyone sing before that day :)

Well, the buzz has never STOPPED - and that's no exaggeration!  This beautiful St. Louis native - now based in New York - is writing her own ticket to stardom.  A vocal performance graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, Alicia gave her recital at Carnegie Hall.  And she debuted professionally as Sacagawea in a world premiere operetta.

Musical Theater and Opera have been great passions in our guest's life - but so has Jazz.  She and her husband, the fantastic bassist, Michael Olatuja, have their own band.  When you hear "The Olatuja Project", your receive the bliss of Alicia singing in a Yoruba or Shona dialect.  Please check out "The Promise" on CD.

And the reason for Glorious Alicia's visit?  Her OTHER CD, "Timeless." :-D  When the most industrious promoter, Kari Gaffney, sent the album to yours truly, there was a lengthy ZONING during that day.  Little else got accomplished but listening to Alicia's voice.  If you've HEARD her, you know!  Michael is with her on this project - as well as another bassist that you might know: Christian McBride :)  And other noteworthy artists.

But it's the world class Alicia Olatuja who is our focus on 12/2.  With the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir since 2007, voice teacher, vocal producer, teaching artist at the neighborhood Arts Council - OH - and a composer, too!  So very impressive.  Please: hear for yourself!
