Ronnie Burrage had an earful of Jazz when he was growing up in St. Louis.  It seemed as though his whole family was into the music - listening or PLAYING.  Needless to say, for someone who loved the idea of performing, anyway, he was inspired even more by his musical kin.  He delved into multiple instruments and was considered way beyond his years.  As a teenager, he moved to New York, with a wealth of experience under his belt ALREADY.

Performance and/or touring partnerships read like a Who's Who of Brilliance in the Jazz world and beyond: McCoy Tyner, Wayne Shorter, Jaco Pastorius, Sonny Rollins, and dozens more. Not surprising for a nine year-old who shared the stage with Duke Ellington!

This highly respected multi-instrumentalist is also a composer and teacher of rare ability.  A full scholarship took him to Texas years ago and he hasn't stopped his pursuit of passionate involvement with various genres AND mentoring.

With Band Burrage, his ensemble that gets QUITE a bit of buzz, all that Ronnie has learned and absorbed through his career rises to the surface - like cream.  Free Jazz in an intimate relationship with Hybrid cream :)  His CD with the group, called "Heal", clearly displays his roots in Jazz - but those vines branch out in varying countries: Africa, Cuba and Brazil.  And there are Rock and Pop, Fusion and Funk feels here.  The Blues.  Ronnie loves the idea of telling the truth in whatever genre-bending that he chooses.  He's built that way.  We're grateful!

Band Burrage has some important dates on the way - we'll talk about those - and play some delicious tracks from "Heal" - one or two featuring the wonderful vocals of Shenel Johns.  Come early and get a seat in The Chat Room - we'll be waiting!
