From the Nation's Capitol, Mycah Chevalier has been singing and performing since she was a child - her Dad was in the music business and the "bug" was there to follow in his footsteps. But education was important, too, so our "Creole Girl" - with scholarships in hand - attended both Mt. Vernon College and Howard University.
Attention has been paid to Mycah through the years - and one of those to focus on her was the internationally acclaimed playwright and choreographer, Debbie Allen - who casted Mycah in "Soul Possessed." That meant sharing the stage with Patti Labelle and Arturo Sandoval.
But Mycah is no stranger to sharing stages - she has done so with a bevy of Jazz and Soul acts - including The Whispers, the late Luther Vandross, Paul Taylor and more. And she has created a stir on some beautiful musical projects from R & B singer, Vic, and Jazz saxophonist, Ray Gaskins.
And our guest is adept at writing as well as singing - she had a hand in most of the material on her "Roux's Fantasy" CD. As well, she is a key member of two groups - known in District of Columbia circles and beyond: The Schoobies and guiltypleasures. Her work with the latter group has resulted in a song, "Anticipation", that has generated continual airplay on the popular station - Washington's own, WHUR.
Last year, the spotlight was on Mycah again when she recorded the classic, "In a Sentimental Mood." And now there is both a new single and an event that needs discussion - which brings us to Tuesday, February 26th. Ms. Chevalier brings her sultry self to the show at 2:30. Of course, you know the music starts at one - Mycah Music will, indeed, be in the mix!
