For over three decades, world-class pianist Fred Hughes has been performing, conducting, teaching or presenting workshops in Jazz.
His home state is Pennsylvania - and his keyboard work there, along with his involvement in community bands and Jazz ensembles - had him being eyeballed (by age 25!) as a huge conductor-to-be and extraordinary musician. This is a story that has come to fruition.
Still early in his experience, Fred was working with the 1st Army Band in Fort Meade, Maryland - and the 8th Army Band in Seoul Korea. He gained an incredible reputation while navigating those global units, and his credibility flourished with the recording of six albums for Oasis/EMI - based in Seoul. In Korea, he also displayed leadership as the Jazz coach for the MBC Pops Orchestra.
In 1985, he returned to Lancaster, Pa, and formed a Jazz trio - playing to appreciative and packed houses. He eventually joined the Army's highly touted, Jazz Ambassadors - and toured the States and Europe as pianist and soloist.
Fred has performed in Orchestras everywhere - and conducted them in every direction of the USA. A passionate educator and author, he is now the proud overseer of a new project called "In the Mist." Astonishingly refreshing Jazz that brings him to the show on Thursday, October 18th! Join us when the show starts at ONE - Fred swings by at THREE p.m. Of course, that's Eastern time - wait - make that "Fred" time ;)
