It's the Sax Gene - that's what I'm thinking.  Kyle Wolverton was born in Seattle, Washington - his Dad, Lee, had been a sax player.  AND his younger brother, Joel, is also a saxophonist!  Enterprising parents might think this would be fun scenario - and both Lee and Cherry Wolverton did.  With Mom as booking agent and manager, The Wolverton Family Sax Trio toured the Great Northwest, making fans with their traditional Gospel songs. 

When not touring, Kyle spent many at day at home, listening to music.  From Gospel to Jazz masters: Grover, Maceo, Sanborn.  To Jazz Fusion and R & B.  Kyle absorbed the passion of Marvin, Luther and Keith Sweat - and put all of what he felt from various genres into a tasty stew of silky sax vibes.

He was working even while attending Pacific Union College.  His group, "Similar Differences", featured members of Taj Mahal's band.  The guys toured Napa Valley and the San Francisco area - then there was an opportunity to tour the South Pacific.  As you might imagine, the music there found a way to Kyle's ears and absorbed through his bloodstream - an even more 'hybrid' sound on that sax was born.

When he returned to the States, Kyle found his way into a popular Blues band called Marshall Law - in Northern California.  After the reputation he had acquired through the years, he eventually moved to Los Angeles and turned out "Soul Groove" - he has been grooving ever s
