Tattoos and body piercing, a Eurasian practice since Neolithic times, date back in history more than 5,000 years. Some tribal tattoos were and are still perceived as a sign of beauty, class, to ward off illness and disease, rites of passage, symbols of religious and spiritual devotion, sexual lures and marks of fertility, and even talismans and protection.
Today, a growing number of people are choosing tattoo and piercing body art in the name of art and self-expression.
But what happens when that display is just too much, and the expression is goes to the length of being visually uncomfortable. And what about those who believe that by marking and piercing the flesh goes against the Christian doctrines of the Bible? Does having tattoos and piercing make you less of a Christian than those without?
On this episode of Hot Topics Talk Radio, we’re going to discuss the nature of tattooing and piercing, and what everyone should know about the origins, risks, safety precautions, and even how much tattooing and piercing is too much - and when it goes too far.
