A control freak is a derogatory term for a person who attempts to dictate how everything around them is done. In terms of personality-type theory, control freaks are very much the Type A personality, driven by the need to dominate and control. An obsessive need to control others is also associated with antisocial personality disorder. Guest Patricia Evans is the bestselling author of five books, including The Verbally Abusive Relationship, Verbal Abuse Survivors Speak Out, Controlling People and The Verbally Abusive Man: Can He Change? She has appeared on Oprah, CNN, national radio, and in Newsweek and O, The Oprah Magazine. Patricia lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and can be reached via her website at www.VerbalAbuse.com.

Newsweek declared her book, The Verbally Abusive Relationship: How to Recognize it and How to Respond, -"A groundbreaking new book." It appeared in DEAR ABBY on New Year's Day 1998. Featured on the Oprah Show, Newsweek and CNN.
