There is an old saying about "Pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps". Most think it means being self reliant, but if you look at the origins of the statement, you might be surprised to find out it used to be an insult. It was used to describe people who were basically delusional. It's not something we think about much, but of course pulling yourself up by straps attached to your own feet is physically impossible.
With this in mind, today''s walk is a journey into the light and shadow of self-reliance and the challenges that arise when deciding when we need to ask for help.
