Why is Religious Fanaticism Growing?
Why do people kill in the name of God? Paula Fouce knows firsthand how religion can be misused after being trapped in a religious riot and nearly losing her life.
Afterward, she began a quest to find solutions to this crisis of intolerance and fanatacism. She met Mother Teresa, the Dalai Lama and many inspiring religious leaders who all say the cycle of hatred can be broken. “Not in God’s Name” is her book, and film. It follows the Dalai Lama’s advice and puts his ideas into action as it tackles fundamentalism and religious intolerance. Paula Fouce has worked in South Asia for many years, including Pakistan and Afghanistan. She’s produced five films on religion and tolerance that have aired on PBS. Her latest project is “No Asylum: The Family of Anne Frank”, which includes newly discovered information about the Franks trying to emigrate to safety during the Holocaust.
