At the age of 40, Harland David Sanders began serving fried chicken from his service station. Within a few years his diner moved into a nearby motel but the restaurant failed when a new Interstate siphoned away customers. Rather than retreat and retire, Sanders took $105 from his first Social Security check and began looking for ways to expand his business. When he died in 1980, “Colonel” Sanders had turned Kentucky Fried Chicken into a household name. What’s your excuse?
