Emancipation to Liberation:

Our African Essence Lives!

The spirit of self-determination, unity and love has always been the fire burning in our souls, seeking magnificent expression. From the enslaved man, woman, boy or girl whose only release was to secretly destroy a cotton plant and trample it into the earth, to those who were able to take inches and turn them into miles of courage, education, demonstration and victory – the eternal principles of emancipation and liberation have always made that spirit glow.

Join HC LIVE & DIRECT!, as we take a look at a few January drum majors, eternal history makers, through whom the African Essence lived, as evidenced by their words and deeds and the love we hold for them eternally.

Dr. John Henrik Clarke, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., George Washington Carver, Zora Neal Hurston, Elizabeth “Bessie” Coleman, Willa Brown, Dr. Daniel Hale Williams -- to name a few. Let our memories of them last through our love for them and the eternal burning of those same fires in our souls!
