The Joseph Rowntree Foundation (UK) has found that only 14% of student achievement can be attributed to the quality of the school; 86% of that achievement is driven by factors outside of the school.
If these findings are relevant for us, the question is this: What are we doing -- individually, collectively, family, community, etc. -- DILIGENTLY, COMPREHENSIVELY, SYSTEMATICALLY to create and perpetuate a 86% energy and attitude that will inspire and require academic excellence for/from our students?
Or are we waiting for superman, or the Obama African American Education Initiative to be the magic, messianic solution?
