Contaminants in one-fourth of U.S. Private Wells

About 43 million people - 15 percent of the US - use drinking water from private wells, which are not regulated by EPA. More than one-fifth of the 2,100 private wells sampled in a new study the the U.S. Geological Survey had one or more contaminants at a level of potential health concern. We talk to USGS scientists and study authors Leslie DeSimone and Bob Gilliom for details.
