Bible Study based on Judges 13:1-8, 24, 25. Key Verses: Judges 13:24-25

Transformational Objectives:  By the end of the series we will retell the story of Samson's birth and how we must prepare for leadership; acknowledge the need for God's direction in preparation for quality leadership; and determine a strategy to walk on God's path.

Series Objectives: Identify key points in the Lord's preparation to send Samson as a deliverer. Identify some principles in the Lord's instructions to Samson's parents that they are reliable childrearing principles for today. Make a list of ways that parents and the church can foster spiritual growth in children.

Unifying Principle: PREPARING FOR LEADERSHIP

Thought to Remember: Teach the next generation.

Definitions for the Purpose of Our Discussion:

          Barren: Sterile, childless

          Countenance: Appearance

Series Relevance: In the United States of America today, people complain about corruption in politics, law enforcement, and corporations. It is easy to pick out the poor leaders, and it seems like the good ones are few and far between. What does it take for someone to be a good leader in these fields? What sort of training is required? Are our leaders the result of what has been taught (or not taught)? It is important to remember that the world's idea of what makes a good leader may not mirror what God says.

Series Challenge: As we go through this series we would like to pose this challenge: spend some time studying some of the Biblicall leaders. Read their stories. Make notes. Model the good leaders, aspire to be the best us we can be.
