WOW,

The election is over but there is no calm in sight. Whether the topic is Obama care, Taxes, The Financial Cliff, stock market, bond market, inflation, deflation or a host of seemingly unlimited topics our clients are worried, confused and overwhelmed.

I have read several articles by Financial Planners attempting to combat emotion with logical reasoning.

  1. Combat assumes and creates opposition.
  2. Emotion prevents logical reasoning.
  3. If you want to help meet your client where they are and move forward together.

The easiest way to connect and communicate with you client is the KISS method(no not either one of those).

  Keep It Simple Stories

Avoid confrontation and allow the client to place themselves in the story and analyze the emotional state and behavior of the character.

They will realize the power of their emotions, the need to act in their own best interest and to accept the reality of situation and most importantly the wisdom of the advisor in not confronting them with "Your Wrong Followed by an I told You So"

Join No BS Money Guy Todd Strobel and Best Selling Author Kim Butler for a discussion of ways to create and use stories in your financial practice.
