Sarah discusses the Old Testament texts for Lectionary 17, the week of July 24, 2016.  Genesis 18 shows Abraham engaging in conversation with God over the fate of Sodom and Gomorrah.  Psalm 138 is a prayer of both petition and thanksgiving.  Both texts provide examples of ways of speaking with God that might seem surprising.
