SO MUCH DIVERSITY. SO MUCH SIMILARITY

Why do it? What's it's value? And why me, in my life? There are so many less demanding windmills  Ancient makes it rich even in cultures that have gone beyond abundance, continuing a new form of exploitation. Murky business. So why not tilt at flimsy windmills. Some have an open mind. Others do not. It is virtually impossible to experience masonry without some view of why you do it.  A life unexamined is not worth living, a dictum accorded to Socrates at his trial in Plato's Apology.  We know equality applies more to one person than the next.  We know opportunity is greater for people born to privilege. We know what happens when people can anticipate life. We know there are no absolutes in life. We know we cannot stop change. We know people wrongly assume their opinions are truths. Despite so many caveats Freemasonry began to extract unusual tasks from a member.  Turn a questioning eye toward religion but keep your faith.  Learn to observe. Learn silence. Learn to listen.  Education- best in small groups- 3 or 4, enough intimacy to talk or during those rare occasions inviting an academic to provide insights.
