“The Greatest in the Kingdom”

Matthew 18:1-9;

. Many people who are considered great in the world have achieved that status through selfish ambition. They have exploited others on their way to the top and have consistently put their own interests ahead of those others. This week’s lesson shows us that Jesus’ formula for greatness is far different from the world’s formula for greatness.  The events surrounding this week’s lesson took place during the second year of Jesus’ public ministry (see Luke 3:23; Mark 1:9-2:1). He was in the midst of His great Galilean work (see Luke 4:14-15). The Savior continued to experience growing opposition and disapproval from the religious leaders of Israel.

“Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:4).
