Hold Fast to Your Faith

Hebrews 10:23-26

When the original recipients of this epistle received Christ, they came into persecution with some even being imprisoned (see Hebrews 10:32-34). They endured these sufferings joyfully because they recognized the far greater inheritance that was reserved for them in heaven (see Hebrews 6:12; 9:15). The character of the present threat these Jewish Christians were facing must have been more ominous to cause them to contemplate rejecting the benefits of Christ’s passion. In this week’s lesson, the apostle Paul attempted to encourage his fellow believers to stand firm in their faith. When we worship together, we exhort or encourage ourselves and each other; we warn ourselves and one another of the sin and danger of backsliding; and we remind ourselves and our fellow-believers of how we should behave as Christians and that we must watch over one another.
