Since 1942, Guide Dogs for the Blind has been enhancing mobility for qualified individuals by providing partnerships with trained dogs. In this episode of the “Good Dog” podcast, Joanne speaks with Anne Workman of Canine Community Programs about the different breeds they train, the pros and cons of having a guide dog, and how their program works, from conception through training and placement. Guide Dogs is entirely funded by private donation and there are no costs to the person receiving a guide dog. Volunteers are key to the success of this program and you’ll hear about the numerous ways to become involved – from helping to socialize puppies to housing breeders. www.guidedogs.com If you have a question that you'd like answered about your dog, please write to us at GoodDog@SmarterPodcasts.com SmarterPodcasts.com, Delivering Sound Advice.
