"Gena's Groove Theory" July 31, 2012 at 10:00 pm. "Women and Violence, A Deadly Cocktail!". This show was in memory of a extended family member Sybil, who was brutally beaten, raped and murdered. The tragic events of the death of Sybil sparked the topic of this show. Gena has male guests who each have a different account of the violence against women in their lives. Todd, native american man, shared his account of domestic violence as a youngster growing up in a home where his mother was a victim of repeated attacks of abuse by her husband, he reflects on the night he was searching for his mother only to find out that she had been beaten and run over by a car. Jaye, a New York native, shared his account of his sister in law, and her untimely death due to domestic violence. Cherokee, a case worker, who has worked with many women who were victims of abuse, tells his account of why women remain in these relationships that may cause their death. This segment also focuses on prevention, protection and the measures that women can use to get out of violent situations. Informative and resourceful, but uplifting and honest.
