Circumcision Myths and Facts with Dr. Adrienne Carmack

    in Family

My guest is Dr Adrienne Carmack, her work on birth rights-rights to genital autnonmy, which in the U.S. are mostly issues for boys and intersex children, the right to natural birth, the right to conscientious decision-making on vaccinations and the right to breastfeed.
Although medical technology has advanced tremendously and she has seen lives saved, Dr Carmack has also witnessed harm after harm arising from “preventive” measures (such as prostate cancer (PSA) screening and newborn circumcision) and treatments (such as medications and elective surgeries). Though these interventions all have appropriate roles, using them before trying less risky alternatives, such as lifestyle modifications, can expose you to unnecessary risks and fail to address the underlying causes, which may lead to other illnesses later.
