Samson IS strange. Nobody names their child after him. Preachers don't preach about him. Yet he is so well known, that everybody knows something about him. The account of his life is so confusing that it makes some doubt accuracy and authenticity of his career in the Bible: On the one hand, he's heralded as a hero of the faith in the New Testament. On the other hand, a whoremonger and profane man who repeatedly provokes God. On the one hand, his birth was attended by angelic visitation, glory and miracles on par with John the Baptist's. On the other hand, his career consisted in killing people, and little else. On the one hand, he sleeps with Delilah and loves her. On the other hand, she tries three times to destroy him without even hiding her intent. Yet he stays with her for the final time. How do we explain this man? Tonight (Thurs.) we discuss him. Your host, Rev. Rick Anderson on "Jewish Roots", each Thursday at 9:30 pm, EDT. To call with question or comment: 347-324-5759.
