Weird Al Yankovic joins us live as we celebrate the release of his 14th studio LP, Mandatory Fun, out today, July 15th!
The album includes a hilarious take on Pharrell's "Happy" as well as featuring parodies of Lorde's "Royals," Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive," Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" and Iggy Azalea's "Fancy," plus Al's own "style parodies" of the Pixies and Cat Stevens.
In addition to the album, Weird Al is releasing videos for several of the songs this week. Tune in to find out more!
About Weird Al:
Few would have guessed that "Weird Al" Yankovic, who as a shy, accordion-playing teenager got his start sending in homemade tapes to the Dr. Demento Radio Show, would go on to become the biggest-selling comedy recording artist in history with over 12 million album sales. Now entering his fourth career decade, he has won 3 Grammys (with 14 nominations) and countless awards.
In addition to his recordings and world-famous music videos, Yankovic is also well-known for his cult-hit feature film UHF (1989), his late ‘90s CBS Saturday morning series The Weird Al Show and the numerous AL-TV specials that he’s made for MTV and VH1 over the years. With release of his children’s book When I Grow Up (HarperCollins, 2011), Al added "New York Times Bestselling Author" to his resume. An app version of the book for the iPhone and iPad, which recently won a Webby Award, is also available. His follow-up to this title was My New Teacher and Me! , released June, 2013.
Weird Al, along with his band of three decades, has performed over 1,000 career concerts and continues to tour with his rock and comedy multimedia show throughout the world.
