Shankari the Alchemist first started working as a silversmith in her early twenties, creating small hand made jewelry at a tiny desk with a blowtorch and some basic tools in the Australian bushlands outside of Sydney. Fast forward 15 years and Shankari spent 1988 mastering the art of ceramic costume jewellery and saving up to finally be able to set up her first silver jewelry factory in Bali Indonesia. Shankari's determination and artistic drive enabled her to overcome the impossible as she supported her 4 children, half a dozen Balinese families, herself and a few pets, "living hand to mouth" guided by her internal wisdom and tenacity. Her capacity to create and adjust as she adapted to her overwhelming circumstances gave "life to her dream" and gifted us all with her spectacular creations. In 1990 Shankari moved her Jewelry factory from Seminyak to Balian in an undeveloped area only visited by adventurous surfers. Initially, Shankari began with only two silversmiths, at the peak of her production there were thirty-three silversmiths and fourteen polish men. Shankari’s core production team has always been sourced by local Indonesians working in harmony with her vision and oversight. Shankari has provided work and sustainable living to support the local Balian culture and lifestyle over the last thirty years. It is through this conscious effort so many have come together to create and support Shankari the Alchemists’ Talismans of Power for the modern mystics. Shankari’s latest projects including the expansion of her residence in Balian to be home to a training ground for all beings on the path of personal development and healing through art, dance, breathing and holistic wellness.
