(The Way of the Righteous and the End of the Ungodly) Psalm 1. Blessed (Prov. 4:14) is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, (Ps. 26:4, 5; Jer. 15:17) Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2. But (Ps. 119:14, 16, 35) his delight is in the law of the Lord, (Josh. 1:8) And in His law he meditates day and night. 3. He shall be like a tree (Ps. 92:12–14; Jer. 17:8; Ezek. 19:10) Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall (Gen. 39:2, 3, 23; Ps. 128:2) prosper. 4. The ungodly are not so, But are (Job 21:18; Ps. 35:5; Is. 17:13) like the chaff which the wind drives away. 5. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6. For (Ps. 37:18; Nah. 1:7; John 10:14; 2 Tim. 2:19) the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall Parish.
