ENVISION THIS...comprehensive and deep change that is rooted in a political economy and a new set of cultural values that are sustaining people, communities and nature .

To reach this vision, our guest, Gus Speth, advocates "a fusion of those concerned about environment, social justice, true democracy, and peace into one powerful progressive force."

Gus Speth is author of America the Possible,  professor of law at the Vermont Law School, and senior fellow at Demos and the United Nations Foundation.  Formerly, he was environmental adviser to President Jimmy Carter, leader of the United Nations program for international development, co-founder of two leading environmental organizations, leader of th United Nations program for international development, and dean of the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.  According to David Korten, "Speth is a seasoned leader and passionate truth teller with impeccable establishment credentials...He presents a compelling case for economic transformation and spells out a policy agenda to achieve a secure and prosperous future for all."

Gus believes so strongly in what he stands for that he allowed himself to be arrested and spent two nights in jail for protesting at the White House against the Keystone Pipeline.

He maintains that we have it in ourselves, even in the face of "fierce opposition and determined resistance from the powers-that-be,"  to use our freedom and our democracy in powerful ways to create a reborn America for our children and grandchildren.
