I say keep our Aretha Franklin, Joan Baez, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Roberta Flack, Mahalia Jackson, Missy Elliott and Jordin Sparks. Out with the Barbie bands, Airbrushed, Disney look, boyish bodies and porcelain faces. Being a strong woman is beautiful. Freckles are not flaws. Kinky hair is beautiful. Bring back those lovely lady humps. The Queen of Soul – Aretha Franklin was sexy and curvy. Joan Baez sang about strong social issues. Carole King’s unruly hair is beautiful and so is Joni Mitchell’s sexy over bite. Roberta Flack’s thick beautiful natural hair and full lips are luscious. Mahalia Jackson – The Queen of Gospel was a plus size, so are Missy Elliot who brings a different ambiance with innovative videos and winding lyrics and Jordin Sparks with her soulful voice. She and all of us are simply beautiful.
