BACK TO THE ROOTS

 Entertainment Worldwide Network 619-639-4709 (EVERY SUN - FRI 10PM EAST COAST / 7PM WEST COAST) brings you “SPOKEN WORD FOREVER” Tonight's show is “Back to the Roots.” Getting back to the roots are essential for knowing oneself. This ties us back to the beginning and gives us an understanding as to why we do what we do. Storytelling is a way of keeping us close and sometimes tying us back to our roots. Once we know the who, what, where, when, why and how of our society, we stand a better chance of being successful and a lessor chance of failure. This is because we know who we are. At one time stories were carried from one generation to the next by word of mouth. Some of the contents became distorted or left out but the basic idea and purpose remained. This served as a way to preserve the culture as well as bring people closer together. Storytelling goes as far back as one can remember and was used by every culture.  Storytelling is a way of expressing events, images, and sounds by using words whether by inventiveness of exaggeration. Some Native American cultures still use storytelling in their daily ritual. How this relates to the Spoken Word Poet is that in today’s society Spoken Word Poets all across the world still use their imagination and creativity, to form images in our mind, give us entertainment, preach education, instill moral values, preserve our culture and tie us back to our roots. Never forget who you are and always stay close to your roots.
