Growing Up "White" w Albinism in a Black Community

Brandi has stood out in the crowd all of her life. Some say it’s due to her family “The Darby’s” popularity and hood love. Others say, it’s her tenacity, charismatic outgoing personality. Does this have anything to do with her growing up with albinism and knowing at an early age that she was different? Was she the “weird” girl? Did guys like her? Did friends embrace her? How do you come to a point of acceptance in a society that judges/ridicules what’s “different?” “I have a condition. I am not my condition”, says Brandi. We also have the privilege to have Kelsey Thompson who serves as the Chair of NOAH’s Board of Director. NOAH stands for National Organization for Albinism and Hypopigmentation.
