Dr. Helena Barrington is an anointed prophetic vessel God has used for the past three decades to enrich lives across the nation with her music and insightful teaching and preaching. The authors of thousands of songs, plays, musical dramas, and her songs have been recorded by Integrity Music, Hosanna! Series with Ron Kenoly, Alvin Slaughter, and Truth, by Savoy-Malaco Records, The Georgia Mass Choir, URBAN HOPE, Reverend Darryl Coley, Jessy Dixon, Candi Staton, Sara Jordan Powell, and many others. Helena, with her husband, Dr. Kennith Barrington, are the founders and pastors of Metropolitan Cathedral Of Truth, a growing and exciting twenty-first century church serving Florida's capitol city, Tallahassee and the surrounding North Florida region. Having studied at the Performing Arts Management Institute in New York, she established this nations first Christian Performing Arts Academy (Metropolitan Christian Academy of the Arts, currently Pre-K thru 8th grade),teaching grade level academics through arts enhanced curricula, and has many stage productions, television documentaries, and musical recordings to her credit. Dr. Barrington has worked in the administration of FAMU, Florida Teaching Profession-National Education Association, and the Department of Labor in developing office management staff. She studied music psychology and ethnomusicology at Florida State University, and was conferred the Honorary Doctorate Degree in Music by Dayspring Theological Seminary in Panama City, Florida. Dr. Barrington was the first woman to conduct an orchestra on national television [Miss Black America Pageant/1974], served seven years as Dean of Seminars for the National College Black Gospel Choir Workshop, and twelve years on its Advisory Board. She developed and introduced workshop curricula and staff structure, which are still being utilized.
