Shame has been implicated as a significant problem in eating disordered women, especially bulimia. It considers that eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia and bulimarexia are largely disorders of shame. “Individuals suffering from these disorders typically experience themselves as inherently deficient, worthless, or disgusting – as failures.”
