Danette Vigilante is the author of The Trouble with Half a Moon and Saving Baby Doe.

Danette Vigilante grew up in the Red Hook houses in Brooklyn, New York. When she was in the 5 grade, her teacher wrote a five word sentence on the back of her report card which changed her life. That sentence was: Danette needs help with reading. She immediately began visiting her local library where she fell in love with books.

Danette went on to write for middle schoolers. Her first novel, The Trouble with Half a Moon published in 2011, was nominated for the 2012-2013 Sunshine State Young Readers Award.  Her second novel, Saving Baby Doe, will be out in March 2014. Both books are published by Penguin Young Readers Group.  Visit www.danettevigilante.com.
