One of my first dates with my wife was to a movie that starred Taye Diggs.  He took off his shirt, and my wife made a pleased sound.  I can remember being angry.  I was like, “Damn, I am right here!”  Since then, I realized that being jealous was my fear of loss and my desire to be the best looking, smartest, most wealthy, most successful, most thoughtful, best listener… in her life.  I wanted to be all things.  In any type of relationship, there may be valid reason to be jealous.  On the other hand, we, as individuals, must also realize that we cannot control loss nor can we be all things to the ones we love.
