THE HIGH COSTS OF "FREE ENTERPRISE"

2010 has not been a banner year for corporations; from the fiasco of Toyota's running amok to the Massey mining disasters and now the Gulf oil spill, consumers have paid a mighty high price for the lack of proper government oversight. During the last 30 years,the proponents of FREE ENTERPRISE and DEREGULATED MARKETS, placed the keys into the hands of corporations and turned a blind eye as they single handley decimated the manufacturing base.

Contrary to popular belief, it is not mutually exclusive to make a profit whereby the employee, the employer and the society at large can all benefit. Capitalism without a social conscience and a sense of morality will lead to a lack of confidence in the economy as well as those who participate in it.

A system of free enterprise that functions on lies, corruption, and deception erodes the faith in the markets in which it operates.
