Combining several different influences into one sonic package, Southern Chicago's Written in Red strives to bring as much energy and meaning to their music as possible. Our goal has been to mesh a powerful live show with memorable vocal lines and lyrical content that anyone can relate to. A lush atmosphere of rhythmic guitar chords with an aggressive rhythm section is the signature framework of Written in Red. In its earliest incarnation, the band was started years ago when brothers Justin and Robb began playing together. After the many twists, turns and band names, a long time guitarist friend, Jordan came on board. Jordan added a new dimension to the music that the brothers had never thought possible. Enter Jennifer, a young and talented singer-songwriter that could not only sing, but also play guitar and piano. There was no question. She was the front- person we had always needed. We began retooling old material while writing new material. Having spent the last year finishing our EP, "The Best of What's Around", we have been concentrating on playing out again. It is refreshing after so many hours in the studio. April 2009 also saw the debut of our first rock video, “Last Chance”. Under the direction of Vincent Singleton, it has been an amazing experience. With over 350,000 My Space hits in the past year, we are cautiously excited about our future. The third track from the CD, “Swimming with Sharks”, was posted in mid April of 2008. We are excited that the track has racked up nearly 100,000 plays. We know it will not be an easy task, but we are committed to our music, and believe in it with all our hearts.
