Domestic Slavery in Zambia

One big challenge of this century faced by most developing nations, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, and nations of the former Soviet Union is human trafficking. Zambia, a landlocked country in Southern Africa has had its fair share of this scourge. This peace loving country has been and continues to be used as a staging ground for human trafficking mainly because of wide open borders and weak laws that have been taken advantage of by human traffickers. Although the government enacted a law called The Anti-Human Trafficking Act of 2008 signed by the President of Zambia, which enables the persecution of human traffickers, there still remains a lot to be done to bring an end to the misery suffered by innocent young boys and girls at the hands of these ruthless and heartless traffickers. Until this loop sided law is fully implemented, and effectively monitored, to benefit the vulnerable groups affected by this scourge, this problem will soon become a bleeding ulcer
