Toya Raylonn Vickers was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio and currently lives in Columbus, Ohio. She is an African American married to a Nigerian. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the Ohio State University and attended Howard University to obtain a master’s degree in Social Work. In 2003, she was involved in a life-threatening car accident that turned her world upside down. Toya found herself trying to re-invent her life after healing from her wounds years later and finding out she suffers from Bipolar Disorder. Through much prayer and fasting, she returned to her first love of writing. Dimes, Profiles, and Wives was the first book she penned, and Fool for Love was her first short story published under her imprint ToyShelf Publishing. As a published poet and novice song writer, there are many more books to come from this author. While giving you real testimonies in print by creating something new every day, she dares to walk in the newness of life and humbly writes to glorify God. Toya feels that even though her life has been filled with many obstacles, she can still contribute to the world through her gift of writing and hopes through this avenue more people will come to know who God is.
